What's better than commuting to work by bike in the sweltering July summer heat? Smoothies! Actually, smoothies are good anytime, summer or winter.
Benefits of Protein
Do we really need extra protein in our daily diets? Searching through the myriad of posts online, the answer still isn't very clear. Some articles claim we have a huge protein deficiency, while others claim we have been duped by good marketing to get rid of dairy waste product, whey protein. In any case, for me, when I add protein to my smoothies, it feels like my legs are less tired and achy than when I do not add protein to my shakes. I'll leave it up to you to make that decision for yourself, or better yet, ask your doctor.
My smoothie mixes are pretty low brow. For most of the liquid, I'll use Milk or Pineapple Juice, sometimes Orange Juice. I'm not a big fan of ice, but will add some in occasionally to make the drink colder. And one scoop of protein powder. The rest is fruits, peanut butter and whatever I can think of. For this week's featured product,
the 20-Ounce Blender Bottle, here are a few smoothies I enjoy during all seasons.
